6th Week of Easter, Tuesday

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

"I thank you, Lord, with all my heart,
you have heard the words of my mouth.
Before the angels I will bless you.
I will adore before your holy temple.
I thank you for your faithfulness and love
which excel all we ever knew of you."

(From the Psalm)

(Read the quote, then each line slowly, with pauses to allow the children (and us!) to reflect on the questions.)

Today we have another psalm of praise and thanksgiving. What are some of the things the psalmist says?

"I thank you, Lord, with all my heart"

"Before the angels I will bless you."

"I thank you for your faithfulness and love"

Your faithfulness and love "excel all we ever knew of you."

It sounds like the person writing this is very aware of God's great love and it makes him so happy he just has to tell God about it.

Let's think for a bit about God's great love. What would you like to say to God?

Thank you, Lord, for Your faithfulness and love. Thank you that You always hear our prayers.

(Allow any spontaneous prayers, perhaps leading by example. 3-6 year olds relate most naturally to God through prayers of praise and thanksgiving; 6+ will have started thinking about their needs and the needs of those around them in prayers of intercession. Some children may also just want quiet time to speak with God in their hearts.)

(Sing a simple hymn or chant if your children like singing. Or even if they don't ;) This can also be done at the beginning. )

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
