6th Week of Easter, Saturday

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

"I shall ask the Father,
and he will give you another Advocate to be with you for ever."

(Gospel Acclamation)

(Read the quote, then each line slowly, with pauses to allow the children (and us!) to reflect on the questions.)

Remember that Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit and that the Holy Spirit gives us many gifts?

The first of these gifts is Wisdom.

What do you think this word might mean - wisdom?

One way we can explain wisdom is "to know inside ourselves the goodness and great joy of God".

What do you think this means?

"To know inside ourselves." This sounds like something that comes from inside us. Where might it come from?

"The goodness and great joy of God." What do you think this means?

We know that God is good and that living in Him means having great joy.

It sounds like having wisdom means having a wonderful knowledge of God's goodness. What do you think?

Thank you, Jesus, for sending us Your Holy Spirit. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for the wonderful gift of wisdom.

(Allow any spontaneous prayers, perhaps leading by example. 3-6 year olds relate most naturally to God through prayers of praise and thanksgiving; 6+ will have started thinking about their needs and the needs of those around them in prayers of intercession. Some children may also just want quiet time to speak with God in their hearts.)

(Sing a simple hymn or chant if your children like singing. Or even if they don't ;) This can also be done at the beginning. )

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
